OF DOGS & HUMANS
With the series "Of Dogs and Humans", Marie-Noëlle Fattal goes through the Thawra, the Covid pandemic and evokes August 4, but frontality is not the artist's intention. Photographing passers-by, she reveals attitudes and moments. The dogs have anthropomorphic expressions, thus revealing a great humanity, which can only question the visitor.
12th FLOOR
The “12th Floor” series oscillates between tenderness and humor, while questioning the social precariousness of the city. Taken in Mar Mikhaël in July 2020, from an apartment overlooking the neighborhood, these photographs show us the attachment that was born between the photographer and "the characters" captured by her lens.
FREE WALLS
In “Free Walls”, the “Lebanese Icons” Fayrouz, Sabah, Wadih El Safi, Said Akl and Asmahane, along with other works, are the symbol of the freedom of art, freedom of expression, the need to tell a story and emphasize the importance of the duty to remember in a country with uncertain future. Most of the artworks disappeared or faded, in this city that has only one constant: change.
WAITING
The “Waiting” series is based on a symbol that captured Marie-Noëlle Fattal's attention: that of the empty chair. She can be found all over town, alone, waiting for a moment or a conversation, broken or forgotten. Here, these chairs, always neglected, represent a lot of things in the eyes of the artist, well beyond the usual, they are also for her the symbol of "the empty chairs of a stateless country".
